This is the most popular series of metric locknuts. This series creates a positive mechanical lock on a metric standard shaft when combined with a keyway and lockwasher.

- Locknuts have four, equally spaced slots around their circumference to accommodate a hook or impact spanner.
- KM locknuts are commonly used with 12, 13, 222, 223, and 232 series spherical roller bearings.
- Can be mounted directly to the shaft or via an adapter sleeve.
- KM locknuts can be reused, provided they are not damaged. A new MB series lockwasher or MS locking clamp should be used each time the corresponding locknut is installed.
- Lockwashers are available for sizes 00 to 56.Locking clamps for larger sizes.
- KM series locknuts have tighter operational and installation clearances, higher installed accuracy, and lower rotating imbalance loads than hexagonal or square locknuts.
- Conform with ISO standards M threads for sizes 00 through 19, M1 for sizes between 20 and 40, and Tr above size 44.
- Unless otherwise specified, manufactured from AISI grade 1000 or 1200 series steel.
- Bearing face surface finish will not exceed 100 microinches for sizes 00-10, 120 microinches for sizes 11-22, and 150 microinches for sizes above 22.
- Most suitable for applications using cams, clutches, gears, pulleys, sprockets, and other general industry power transmission applications.
